In talking about the dignity of human life, the Catechism instructs that we are «stewards, not owners, of the life God has entrusted to us.» Like many, this teaching of the Church challenges us to a standard that is increasingly contrary to the prevailing culture and, for many, raises more questions than answers.
Join Beth Vanderkooi for an overview of Church teaching on human dignity and end-of-life care in the context of advanced medical directives, assisted suicide, euthanasia, and medical intervention.
Beth Vanderkooi is the executive director of Greater Columbus Right to Life, a position she has held since December of 2012. Prior to that, she worked extensively in public policy and politics, serving as the head lobbyist for Ohio's largest agricultural organization and an employee of both the Ohio House and Senate. Aside from her pro-life work, Beth has been actively engaged in various ministries since her conversion to Catholicism in 2008. She resides in downtown Columbus and is a member of St. Joseph Cathedral.
