Join Columbus Museum of Art for an artist talk with photographer Deana Lawson. Lawson's work is included in the Family Pictures exhibition currently on view at CMA. She draws upon the tradition of the family portrait and snapshot for much of her work, whether her photographs depict her own family members or that of others. For a large-scale photographic installation, Mohawk Correctional Facility (2013), which CMA acquired earlier this year, Lawson appropriates 46 snapshots that track a young woman and her child’s visits to see their partner and father in a state prison.
This program is free and sponsored by The Contemporaries, an interest group of Columbus Museum of Art.
